Yes. There are brands that are currently manufacturing clothing in the US. You can find domestically produced garments bearing the “Made in the USA” label. Wanting to shop local, Made in America brands is a common desire I hear voiced.
(More specifically, I hear a loud preference, if not outright insistence, for Not-Made-In-China clothing.)
Most garments in your closet are made overseas, and the majority probably are from China. China produces 40% of all new garments for the global fashion industry – including a surprising number of couture, luxury, All-American, and organic brands. (See a list of US and European brands that are made in China.)
Sidestepping the debate about where our clothing should or should not be produced, I wanted to highlight a list of brands that are made in the USA. This article has a current, up-to-date list of over 3 dozen American apparel companies that manufacture in the US producing garments for men, women, kids, and babies. I thought a curated list of clothing brands made in the USA would be helpful both for consumers boycotting clothing made in specific countries (a large contingency) and for consumers who value slow fashion and shopping local.
And for shoppers in general who want to support US garment production and shop for American-made apparel, but don’t know where to start. Here’s your list.
It was hard to pull together a list of Made in America brands for a number of reasons.

- Brands misrepresent facts. They’ll show pictures that play up the American flag and state their products are designed (imagined) in the USA but not disclose where garments are sewn. Land’s End claims that its products are produced in America in language both vague and ultra-specific. Yet the Land’s End T-Shirt my husband recently ordered has a sticker on the bag that says “Made in Indonesia.”
- Most information is dated. On news sites like Forbes, Fox, and The New Yorker, I found their lists of clothing brands made in the USA to be dated. Frye Boots, for example, used to be made in the US. But roughly 19 years ago most manufacturing shifted to China.
- Manufacturing decisions often happen quietly. Aware of consumer sentiment, most brands don’t loudly announce that they are transitioning any of their manufacturing overseas. There’s no fanfare or press release. There may not even be a mention on the website.
- These aren’t brands that are “still manufacturing in the US”, rather, smaller niche brands that have emerged since the exodus of garment manufacturing in the 1970s. Gitman Bros. is the one exception.
Made in the USA doesn’t mean a product is necessarily sustainable or ethically made. But with the Made in USA brands I’ve found, they prioritize sustainability, slow fashion, and fair working conditions. Many use deadstock fabric (rescued salvage scraps), recycled materials, and low-impact natural fibers like organic cotton, hemp, and linen.
Below the list of clothing brands made in the USA, I have a few callouts about how the information in the list is organized and a few caveats.

This garment can transform into a tunic, dress (with or without its cowl neck), open-front cardigan, or a chore-style knit jacket. Another favorite piece is a dress with a waist hem you can zip off to transform it into a boxy button-down top.
With each garment able to transform into 2 to 3 different kinds of garments, and all clothing made in California, Vetta Capsule is extremely affordable.

44. Duckworth (Men, Women)
Duckworth is known as the world’s only company to make all its wool garments from one verified source of wool. All Duckworth clothing is made in the USA. Wool is sourced from open-range Merino sheep in Montana. The area’s high elevations make their wool exceptionally soft, durable, and breathable.
They sell wool apparel for casual wear, hiking, and camping. Duckworth also sells a range of cold-weather accessories like baselayers, gaiters, and balaclavas.
Note that many garments are made of Merino wool blended with other fabrics like nylon or spandex for stretch and comfort.

45. MOTHER Denim (Women, Men)
MOTHER Denim crafts, perhaps, the best-fitting jeans I’ve ever owned. I’m short (30″ inseam) and my hips can’t read size charts. Unaware they’re supposed to measure only 10 inches larger than my waist, I don’t have a traditional build that fits neatly into design molds. But somehow Mother Jeans magically fit quite flatteringly.
The brand was founded in 2010 by Victoria’s Secret supermodel Miranda Kerr (current involvement unclear) and denim veterans Lela Becker and Tim Kaeding. The brand’s vibe is light-hearted fun, with a nod to 1970s California culture.
In addition to denim, the MOTHER website sells garments from other brands they love. Some of these tops, dresses, and rompers are made in the USA. Just explore the product details. Everything is very transparent with the country of origin (manufacturing) conspicuously displayed.
I’m low-key obsessed with their Mid-Rise Dazzler Ankle jeans. And their “I Am A Voter” socks (retro stripes!) and tote bag.

About These Brands
I know my list is just over 35 brands but turns out there were a couple more than I had thought. I will update this list regularly, culling and adding brands as needed.
> > > Update: The list includes 45 clothing brands that manufacture in the USA. The article was updated on November 6th.
While they are making clothes in the USA now, that could easily change. Many of these brands are companies that are too small and too niche to be manufacturing overseas – yet. If demand suddenly increases, or they accept outside investment from investors keen to cut costs, production could shift to other countries like India, China, and Vietnam. It may be a partial shift. Pendleton, for example, has shifted the production for most of its inventory overseas.
Many of these brands express a commitment to American textile production, but I don’t think it makes them more likely to stay. (Levi’s, Harley Davidson, and Carter’s, three especially iconic Americana labels, are all made in China.)

Brand Pricing Previews
For these brands’ garment prices, I wanted to give a preview of costs and level-set expectations of what a consumer can expect to pay for a T-Shirt or pair of blue jeans made in the USA.
I specifically call out the prices of core items the brand sells. The price listed is the minimum or starting price. For example, Imogene and Willie’s jeans start at $235 and pricing goes up to $285.
I dislike articles saying “Pricing for the brand starts at $19”, or “Prices range from $19 – $329”. I read that and think, “Yay! I can afford it!” And then I get to the website and discover $19 is the price for a pair of polyester blend socks while a simple cotton dress costs more than my family’s weekly grocery budget. It can feel deceptive.
It took a lot more time and research to pull out key product pricing, but I’m hoping you’ll find it helpful.

Final Thoughts
If you’ve wanted to shop (exclusively) made-in-the-USA clothing brands, this list has you covered: men, women, babies, and kids. With inclusive sizing options too, including plus size, extended size, unisex, maternity, and nursing-friendly options.
Understanding the price, fabric, and style options available for American-made garments might be a starting point for how you think about what you want to buy and what you’re willing to pay.
If there is a brand I should add to the list, please let me know! I am happy to keep growing the list. Please note that I will not add brands that dye or screenprint – in the US – on products manufactured overseas. (I will not add it to this particular list, but I will happily check out your recommendations. I write about brands made all over the globe.)
