What is Appaman Kids?

Established in 2003 from a 600 sq foot apartment in Brooklyn by husband and wife team Harald and Lynn Husman, Appaman Kids was inspired and named after Harald’s childhood companion, a corduroy ape named Appaman. Growing up in Norway, Harald and Appaman were inseparable while they traveled the fields and fjords of their native land, sharing fantastic adventures.

Appaman aims to stretch the conventional barriers of what is considered “children’s clothing” and create something both children and parents love.

Harald remembers one time he was watching a boy and his dad walk down the street and the dad was wearing a cool band tee whereas the kid was wearing a cartoon shirt. Harald wondered why the kid couldn’t wear the cool band tee. Given that Harald had a background in graphic design and loved nostalgic American Pop Culture, Appaman was born.

Harald (CEO) and Lynn (COO) have 2 kids and live in Brooklyn, with the brand being based out of New York, New York in the Flatiron District.
