Woolino is a clothing company that provides sleep-related products for babies, toddlers, and adults.
Woolino’s blankets and sleep bags are made from 100% Merino wool and organic cotton.
We have two Woolino sleep bags at home, one in a dark blue with a constellation print and one in grey and white stripes. After 2+ years of wear (we’re on kid number 2), our walking sleepsuits (4-season sleep bags with feet) look almost new. The fabric shows no pilling or wear. And unlike other garments, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a stain on them.

What is Woolino sizing?
Woolino recommends using the size guide to ensure the safest and best fit for your little one. They do not recommend sizing up for safety reasons.
The sleeping bag should be well-fitted around the child’s upper body for a safe and secure fit.
Sizing starts around 2 months and goes up to 6 years, depending on the child’s size.
What does TOG mean?
TOG stands for Thermal Overall Grade, which measures warmth. The higher the TOG, the warmer the product is.
What should TOG baby sleep in?
What TOG a baby should sleep in depends on the temperature of the room, what garments the baby is sleeping in, and the child’s natural body heat.
A general rule of thumb is that a baby should sleep in a TOG level comfortable for an adult. For example, if your room is 65 degrees Fahrenheit and you would be comfortable wearing a light sweater, then your baby should sleep in a 1.0 TOG sleep sack and a footed long-sleeved sleeper.
There are several guides online to help you determine what size TOG is best and how to dress your baby.
How many TOG is Woolino?
Woolino’s 4 Season sleep bags are designed to be worn year-round. They are made with 100% natural breathable fibers and contain no synthetic filling, which keeps the baby warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Therefore, they do not have a fixed TOG.
The 4 season sleep bags are made from merino wool lining, which helps naturally regulate the baby’s temperature and is suitable to be used in room temperatures 63-75 degrees Fahrenheit. To further adjust the warmness of the sleep sack, you can dress the baby in warmer or cooler layers.
You can take a quiz to determine which sleep bag suits you and your baby.
Is Merino Wool real wool?
Yes! Woolino uses Woolmark, a recognized brand in textiles and clothing, for products made from pure new wool. Woolmark wool products are tested and certified by Australian Wool Innovation (AWI).
Are wool sleep sacks safe?
Yes! Woolino products are made with Woolmark and Oeko-Tex 100 certified merino wool and GOTS and Oeko-Tex 100 certified organic cotton. Nickel-free YKK snaps and zippers are used and certified to be lead and phthalates-free and carry Oeko-Tex 100 certification.
Properly fitting sleep sacks are a safer option versus loose blankets because it eliminates the risk of fabric getting over the baby’s face and obstructing their airways. This can cause suffocation and SIDS.
Why don’t sleep sacks have sleeves?
The main reason is safety. You do not want to restrict the movement of your baby’s arms if they roll over and need to get back on their back.
The risk of suffocation and SIDS increases if a baby somehow ends up face-down in bed and cannot roll back over because of cumbersome layers.
What do you wear under a sleep sack?
There are many helpful charts online that give examples of room temperature, TOG, and clothing options for your baby.
Woolino recommends sleepwear made of natural and breathable fabrics like wool or organic cotton since its breathable and temperature regulating.
Is Woolino too hot for summer? Is it warm enough for the winter?
It depends. Woolino’s 4 Season Sleep Bag is suitable for 63-77 degrees Fahrenheit room temperatures. If the baby’s room is warmer than 77F or cooler than 63F, the sleep sack may not be suitable.
What temperature should I keep my baby’s room at?
Studies have found that room temperatures between 68 and 72 degrees F may be the most comfortable for babies.
A baby’s room temperature above 72F may make the baby too warm and potentially increase the risk of SIDS.
How do you wash Woolino? Can you put Woolino in the dryer?
Wool is naturally odor resistant and doesn’t need to be washed as often as other materials. You can spot clean where needed, and you do not need to wash it before using it when you first get it.
If you do need to wash your sleep sack:
- Machine wash on low
- Close zipper
- Use wool or mild detergent
- Line dry or tumble dry on no heat setting
Pilling is a natural process of merino fabric due to wool being a stable fiber. The best way to avoid pilling is to wash a new merino wool product after the first couple of wears. The pilling will diminish over time and with each wash as the wool fibers work themselves free of the fabric and break away.
Are Woolinos worth it?
Yes! The products (specifically sleep sacks) fit a range of sizes, so your investment will last a long time.
I bought two Woolino sleep bags with feet for Margot (in Birch Grey and Night Sky). I opted for the 18-36 month size. The broad size range gives maximal wear.
She wore both of them (over pajamas) for 2 years before passing them down to Henry. He sleeps in them nightly over pajamas.
After 2+ years of washing and wear, they look almost new. I see no flaws. My kids spill all the time, but there are no stains on them and there’s no pilling. They resist stains and clean up well. They get tossed in the dryer (when we should probably be line drying) after machine washings and still look great.
And unlike blankets, my kids can’t kick off their sleep bag in the middle of the night and wake up cold. And I don’t worry about any risk of smothering. And unlike fleece or other synthetic fabrics, wool just does a better job at regulating body temperature because it’s a natural fiber.
If you’ve ever slept with a polar fleece blanket or worn a thick acrylic sweater, you know that an hour or so into wear you’re going to get too hot and want to yank it off. With wool, you remain at a more comfortable temperature. Also, wool is also believed to exhibit antibacterial properties which is another plus in the fabric’s favor.
